Charles County Sheriff Meets With Youth Council

WALDORF, Md. – The CCSO is deeply committed to the success of our students. Recently, Sheriff Berry met with students from the Youth Advisory Council to share any concerns they have and to talk about solutions. He was joined by Dr. Marvin Jones, an Executive Director with Charles County Public Schools.

The words dialogue and communication came up over and over and the students expressed their appreciation of being able to talk openly in a small setting. Sheriff Berry and Dr. Jones reciprocated by acknowledging how important the voice of teenagers is. The Council is part of Sheriff Berry’s continued initiatives to enhance police-community relations. Council members include representatives of the Student Government Associations, but participants do not need to belong to any organizations – they simply have to have an interest in solving problems with sustainable resolutions.

“We are dedicated to making a positive difference in the lives of the people we serve. We are committed to enhancing our relationships with our communities and we look forward to having meaningful discussions with students,” said Sheriff Berry.
