Additional Money Raises Reward up to $20,000
The Charles County Sheriff’s Office is continuing their investigation in the shooting of a man and woman that occurred in the Hampshire neighborhood of Waldorf on October 26. The reward in the case has once again increased and detectives are asking anyone with information to call. Callers can remain anonymous.
Immediately after the shooting, Sheriff Rex Coffey authorized an increase to the Crime Solvers reward in the hopes that someone would call with information. Also, the St. Charles Companies, the Hampshire Neighborhood Association and its management agent, Property Management Enterprises, and the Hampshire Townhome Association have each offered an additional $5,000 toward the reward, making the total reward up to $20,000 for information leading to the arrest and indictment of the suspect.
“Charles County is a county who cares. The Hampshire neighborhood is strong and has been supportive of our efforts. We appreciate the additional reward monies and hope it will generate tips,” said Sheriff Coffey.
Since the shooting, detectives have been pursuing leads and are working to establish a motive. Patrol officers have remained a constant presence in the area and have passed out thousands of fliers containing important information about ways in which people can contact the Sheriff’s Office or Crime Solvers. A forensic sketch artist created a sketch of the suspect based on a description provided by a witness. And, agency personnel are continuing to assist the family.
“This is a tough case but we have solved tough cases before,” said Sheriff Coffey. “We will pursue every lead, every tip and every bit of information to identify the person responsible. We want to solve this case as much as our community wants it solved.”
