Waldorf, MD โ€“ State authorities are investigating a deliberately set fire that caused a minimal amount of damage to a single story commercial building on Crain Highway in Waldorf. According to the Maryland State Fire Marshalโ€™s Office, the blaze occurred Sunday morning, Sept. 28 at approximately 6:30 a.m.

The store was identified in the investigatorโ€™s report as Spirit Halloween Store. A passing motorist reported the fire.

โ€œThe fire was determined to have been intentionally set on the roof of the building,โ€ Dfm. John Nelson stated. โ€œThe damage was minimal and the store remains open.โ€

No injuries were reported and the damage is estimated at $1,000.

Ten firefighters from the Waldorf Volunteer Fire Department were dispatched to the one-alarm blaze and brought the flames under control in one minute.
