Waldorf, MD – State authorities are investigating a deliberately set fire that caused a minimal amount of damage to a single story commercial building on Crain Highway in Waldorf. According to the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office, the blaze occurred Sunday morning, Sept. 28 at approximately 6:30 a.m.
The store was identified in the investigator’s report as Spirit Halloween Store. A passing motorist reported the fire.
“The fire was determined to have been intentionally set on the roof of the building,” Dfm. John Nelson stated. “The damage was minimal and the store remains open.”
No injuries were reported and the damage is estimated at $1,000.
Ten firefighters from the Waldorf Volunteer Fire Department were dispatched to the one-alarm blaze and brought the flames under control in one minute.
