PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. A man who was indefinitely banned from a waterfront resort nearly a decade ago found himself in cuffs on May 30 after returning to the property in violation of a longstanding trespass notice.

Deputies with the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office arrested Martin Sylvester Woodland, 59, of Waldorf, at the Rod ‘N Reel Resort in Chesapeake Beach. Authorities say Woodland had been barred from the premises since 2016 by Deputy First Class Idol but was discovered sitting on a curb outside the parking garage around 5:41 a.m.

Woodland reportedly told deputies he’d been on the property for roughly three hours and claimed he did not know the ban was permanent. However, court records and law enforcement reports indicate the order of trespass—issued on Nov. 18, 2016—remains in effect indefinitely.

Following his interaction with DFC Idol, Woodland was taken into custody by Deputy Gadwill at approximately 5:53 a.m. A search of his person turned up no additional violations, and he was transported without incident to the Calvert County Detention Center, where he was formally charged with trespassing on private property.

According to court records filed in the District Court for Calvert County, Woodland is charged with one count of trespass, a misdemeanor that carries a maximum penalty of 90 days in jail and a $500 fine. Woodland was released on his own recognizance the same day, and his case is set for officer trial scheduling on July 16, 2025.

  1. you’ve got to keep checking when that happens to see if its still in place. If the managers not acting right, it may be appropriate to put the business on the internet + what they’ve done. Sometimes you’re thrown out for appearance + that deserves to go on the internet.
