Fire officials are investigating a hotel fire in Newburgย on Dec. 24 at about 11:45 a.m.
Fire broke out at the Thunderbird Hotel located at 11050 Crain Highway after occupants of the hotel discovered flames in the laundry room.
Over 30 firefighters from Newburg, Bel Alton, Cobb Island, La Plata, Mechanicsville and King George helped to battle the blaze.
The fire was determined to be accidental from an electrical malfunction in the laundry room. Combustible materials were piled on top of the electrical equipment causing it to ignite. The hotel remained open after the fire and no occupants were displaced.
The damage estimate rings in at $5,000. No injuries were reported.
