Waldorf, MD— On August 28, a house fire was discovered in the garage at Garner Avenue in Waldorf by the owner of the residence.
The investigation revealed that a discarded cigarette in a plastic container was the cause of the fire.
It took 50 firefighters 10 minutes to contain the fire, however, the estimated loss totaled $30,000.
The fire damage was mostly contained to the garage but the displaced family is being assisted by family and friends.
The preliminary cause of the fire was determined to be accidental. The primary responding fire department was the Waldorf Volunteer Fire Department.
