LEONARDTOWN, Md. – The Cinderella Society, a charitable initiative dedicated to providing free prom dresses, accessories, and tuxedos to local students, is gearing up for its 2025 event. Led by Brittany Gill and Katrina Cropp, the society is currently accepting donations of formal attire to help make prom dreams come true for students across Southern Maryland.
The event will take place on March 15 and 16 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Tolerance Hall at the St. Mary’s County Fairgrounds. Students from St. Mary’s, Charles, and Calvert counties are welcome to participate, and younger students, such as those looking for an eighth-grade dance dress, are also invited.

“Very excited!” said Gill when asked about returning to the event this year. “This is our fourth year, and I feel like we’re finally getting in a good rhythm and know what it takes to pull off a successful event.”
Originally hosted at the Lexington Park Library before the pandemic, the event was rebranded last year under the name that inspired its mission: the Cinderella Society.
Gill shared that the most rewarding part of the event is witnessing the joy it brings to both students and donors. “Seeing how excited the students get when they find the perfect dress or suit and then completing the look with matching accessories,” she said. “And on the other end, seeing how much joy our donors have in knowing the dress they’re giving us will live a second life and bring joy to someone else.”
