St. Mary’s County, MD — The National Weather Service has issued a Coastal Flood Advisory for the shoreline in St. Mary’s County, which is in effect until 7 p.m. this evening.
A Coastal Flood Watch has also been issued. This Coastal Flood Watch is in effect from 11 p.m. this evening through Saturday evening.
* TIDAL DEPARTURE…One to one and a half feet above normal this
ย afternoon, increasing to one and a half to two feet by
ย Saturday.
* TIMING…Around the time of high tide. This afternoon`s high
ย tide is occurring now. The next two high tides at Point Lookout
ย are at 2:09 AM late tonight and 2:32 PM Saturday afternoon. The
ย next two high tides at Piney Point are at 3:11 AM late tonight
ย and 3:32 PM Saturday afternoon. The next two high tides at
ย Colton`s Point are at 3:47 AM late tonight and 4:08 PM Saturday
ย afternoon.
* IMPACTS…Water is expected to go over a portion of the bulkhead
ย near the Straits Point bridge this afternoon, and also cover
ย yards in the Saint George`s Creek and Saint Mary`s River areas.
ย Minor shoreline inundation up to one foot above ground is
ย possible elsewhere. On Saturday, Water may cover roads on Saint
ย George`s Island, be in yards, and approach structures. To the
ย east, inundation is possible at multiple marinas off Saint
ย Mary`s River, Smith Creek, and Jutland Creek. Shoreline
ย inundation up to one foot above ground is possible elsewhere.
