Pushing a theme from the 2011 Charles County Economic Summit, the Charles County Commissioners declared December “Choose Charles Month’ in Charles County on Tuesday. The proclamation urges residents to shop at local small businesses during the holiday season.
The message came from the economic summit, when the idea of economic harvesting was introduced in the region. The theory pushes residents to buy from local businesses and local small businesses to trade with each other as the local economy grows. The proclamation also comes three days after the nationwide “Small Business Saturday”.
The proclamation states that the campaign is a grassroots campaign by the Charles County Chamber of Commerce.
