Leonardtown, MD โ€“ โ€œChanging our Future Togetherโ€ is the theme of this yearโ€™s National Public Health Week observance, The Commissioners of St. Maryโ€™s County have proclaimed the week of April 2 โ€“ 8 in recognition of the event and in honor of the countyโ€™s Health Department.

Strong public health systems are critical for sustaining and improving community health. Theย ย ย ย  St. Maryโ€™s County Health Department provides public health services to residents and visitors to the county.

โ€œThe St. Maryโ€™s County Health Department, along with our local health improvement coalition, the Healthy St. Maryโ€™s Partnership, educates and engages our residents and partners to foster a healthier community for ourselves and generations to come,โ€ said Commissioner Tom Jarboe (1st District). โ€œA hallmark of the countyโ€™s public health system is an extensive and effective collaboration among a wide range of public and private sector partners to promote health through many venues.โ€

In proclaiming National Public Health Week, the commissioners call upon residents to understand the value of public health and adopt healthy lifestyle habits.
