Leonardtown, MD – St. Maryโ€™s County is home to a growing population of adults aged 50 and older. The countyโ€™s Department of Aging & Human Services takes pride in offering activities specifically designed for those in that age group. In recognition of the departmentโ€™s efforts, the Commissioners of St. Maryโ€™s County have proclaimed the month of September National Senior Center Month.

โ€œThe Department of Aging & Human Services provides a wide array of programs at three Senior Activity Centers (Garvey, Loffler and Northern) five days per week to enhance the health, well-being and fitness of older adults,โ€ said Commissioner Todd Morgan (4th District). โ€œNational Senior Center Month is an opportunity to spotlight the benefits of our Senior Activity Centers and the value of their service in the community.โ€

In making the proclamation, the commissioners encourage seniors in the community to take advantage of the programs and activities offered at the countyโ€™s three Senior Activity Centers every day.
