Leonardtown, MD – St. Mary’s County is home to a growing population of adults aged 50 and older. The county’s Department of Aging & Human Services takes pride in offering activities specifically designed for those in that age group. In recognition of the department’s efforts, the Commissioners of St. Mary’s County have proclaimed the month of September National Senior Center Month.
“The Department of Aging & Human Services provides a wide array of programs at three Senior Activity Centers (Garvey, Loffler and Northern) five days per week to enhance the health, well-being and fitness of older adults,” said Commissioner Todd Morgan (4th District). “National Senior Center Month is an opportunity to spotlight the benefits of our Senior Activity Centers and the value of their service in the community.”
In making the proclamation, the commissioners encourage seniors in the community to take advantage of the programs and activities offered at the county’s three Senior Activity Centers every day.
