Monday, June 26 crash in Hollywood, MD

UPDATE – Tuesday afternoon, June 27

Hollywood, MD – On June 26 at approximately 8:23 p.m., patrol officers from the St. Maryโ€™s County Sheriffโ€™s Office responded to a serious single motor vehicle collision on Vista Road in the area of Whiskey Creek Road in Hollywood. Officers located a 2000 Chevrolet Tahoe off the roadway and into a tree with both the operator and front seat passenger trapped in the vehicle suffering from serious injuries.

The St. Maryโ€™s County Sheriffโ€™s Office Collision Reconstruction Unit responded and assumed the investigation. The preliminary investigation revealed the Tahoe was traveling east on Vista Road, when for unknown reasons, the vehicle left the roadway.

The operator of the Tahoe, Dominique Ofano, 20 of Hollywood attempted to regain control of the vehicle; however, overcorrected, causing the vehicle to leave the roadway again and strike a tree. Ofano and the passenger, Angela Goldsborough, 21 of Hollywood were transported by Trooper 7 to MedStar Washington Hospital Center. At this time speed is believed to be a contributing factor.ย ย

UPDATE Tuesday morning, June 27

Hollywood, MD – On June 26th at 8:25 p.m. volunteer emergency crews from the responded to a serious motor vehicle collision on Vista Road. According to a report posted by the Hollywood Volunteer Fire Department (HVFD), units arrived to find a single sport utility vehicle into a tree with two people trapped. Both were priority 1 traumas and a helicopter was requested. โ€œMembers of HVFD extricated both patients using the HURST Jaws of Life within 15 minutes and transferred care to emergency medical services. Both patients were transported by Trooper 7 to Medstar Washington Hospital Center as Priority 1 traumas,โ€ the report stated.

Local police conducted a crash reconstruction on a portion of Vista Road, closing that portion for several hours. Police have not released any information regarding the investigation.


Monday evening, June 26

Hollywood, MD – Around 8:30 p.m. authorities in St. Mary’s County reported a motor vehicle crash with heavy entrapment on Vista Road in the area of Whiskey Creek Road in Hollywood. Two motorists are being flown to a regional trauma center. Reports from the scene indicate the vehicle the motorists were traveling in struck a tree.

According to reports from the scene, Vista Road is closed Between Sotterley Road and just before Whiskey Creek Road. Crash reconstructionists are currently at the scene.ย
