LEXINGTON PARK, Md. – Emergency personnel and animal control responded to a unique rescue call on the morning of June 28, 2024.

At approximately 9:15 a.m., crews were dispatched to a residence on Three Notch Road near Tippet Road, where they found a dog and a groundhog trapped in a well under the house. The well was approximately 12 feet deep.

Rescue crews worked diligently to extract the animals from the well. After just over an hour of effort, the dog and groundhog were safely removed from the well.

  1. THIS!! This is the level of exciting news we should be reaching in St. Mary’s County…not T-Bone accidents at intersections, not store robberies, not shootings…but stuff like this should be as exciting as it gets.
