Help Make Halloween Special for Families and Children

CHARLES COUNTY, Md. – Help make Halloween special for families and children by donating new or gently used costumes to Charles County Recreation this spooky season. Your contributions will support those in our community, ensuring everyone has a fantastic Halloween! All sizes are needed and appreciated.

Donations are being accepted until Friday, October 24, at select locations throughout Charles County. Costumes will be available to anyone in need at our Rec Xpress Fall Festival on Sunday, October 26. Click here to learn more.

Parks Weather Monitoring

Our new weather stations and lightning detection equipment provide real-time updates in select parks. If lightning is detected within 10 miles, a strobe, siren, and countdown timer will activate, signaling all activities to stop and patrons to seek safety. After 30 lightning-free minutes, an “all-clear” siren will sound, and activities may resume based on conditions. Enjoy our parks with greater peace of mind!
