Driver Crashes Into Tree After Falling Asleep At The Wheel In Great Mills

GREAT MILLS, Md. — A driver suffered minor injuries early Friday after reportedly falling asleep at the wheel and crashing into a tree, temporarily shutting down a portion of northbound Point Lookout Road.

Fire and rescue crews responded to the single-vehicle crash near Walk This Way around 5:22 a.m. on March 7, 2025.

First responders arrived to find the vehicle with front-end damage, with its driver alert and suffering only minor injuries. Emergency medical personnel evaluated the man at the scene, but he declined further treatment and signed a medical refusal.

As crews worked to clear the wreckage, northbound Point Lookout Road was shut down for a brief period before reopening.

The incident remains under investigation.
