LEONARDTOWN, Md. – A serious single-vehicle accident occurred late last night, February 10, 2024, when a vehicle veered off the roadway on Medley’s Neck Road near Starlight Drive. Emergency personnel responded to the scene at approximately 11:37 p.m.
Upon arrival, crews found the vehicle on its side, fully engulfed in flames, with the sole occupant out of the vehicle.
The vehicle was positioned directly under a set of power lines, prompting a notification to Verizon to inspect the lines. Firefighters extinguished the fire within minutes.
The male patient was evaluated on the scene by EMS and transported by ambulance A799 to MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital for further care.
The ambulance reportedly struck a deer en route to the hospital just before Whirlwind Road. Everyone was uninjured and continued transport.
