WALDORF, Md. — A man was rushed to the hospital Wednesday evening, July 9, 2025, after crashing his car into a tree and becoming trapped inside the wreckage in a residential neighborhood in Waldorf.

Emergency crews responded to the 3600 block of Pine Cone Circle shortly after 5:15 p.m. and found the driver pinned inside the vehicle with the engine block crushing his legs.

First responders confirmed the man was conscious, alert and breathing as they worked to free him. The extrication took more than 20 minutes, with tactical rescue teams using specialized equipment to lift the dashboard and remove the driver.

The patient was stabilized on a backboard with a cervical collar and transported as a priority 2 trauma to UM Capital Region Medical Center in Largo.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
