GOP Candidates for U.S. House of Representatives, Fifth Congressional District are Dr. Mark Arness, Chris Chaffee, and Tom Potter.

Each of the following three candidates is dedicated to the Fifth District and to the state of Maryland. Each brings his own unique set of qualifications to this race but the one thing they all have in common is the intense desire to end the perpetual incumbency of the current perpetual incumbent, Congressman Steny Hoyer (D). Contact information is provided here; please research each of these gentlemen so that you are able to make an informed choice when you go to the polls during the Primary Election.

-Dr. Mark Arness (previously featured in Ellynne en Pointe), a resident of Calvert County, is the only 5th Congressional District candidate to sign a U.S. Term Limits Amendment Pledge which states, in part, that he will pledge as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, to co-sponsor and vote for the U.S. Term Limits Amendment of three House terms and two Senate terms – and no longer – limit. He is running for this office because he feels that the nation has embarked upon a perilous path; he believes that Barack Obama and Steny Hoyer are leading us down a primrose path of socialism. -Chris Chaffee was born in Syracuse, NY, and now resides in Calvert County. He wants to protect our Second Amendment rights; he is committed to celebrating and assisting veterans. Chris believes that we need to cut Federal spending. He is a small business owner and will push for fewer taxes and regulations for small businesses as there is a need to create jobs and a business-friendly environment. Steny Hoyer has been in office since 1981 – it’s time for him to leave! Threats of BRAC scare Mr. Chaffee. Chris is a community volunteer and a practicing Catholic. -Tom Potter is a Charles County resident who believes that it’s time for a candidate who won’t walk in lockstep with party elite (Republican or Democrat); he has no time for the nonsense of voting for bills that don’t support American interests, ideals or sovereignty; he won’t vote for wars to help governments that don’t like us, which actively work against democracy and have human rights records that are unacceptable. Tom is a mortgage banker. He believes that there is a need to flush out the dirt in D.C. and that decisions made there have to turn around. Contact Tom at: www.tompotterforcongress.com .
