
Everett Alphonsus Cheseldine, Jr., 84, of Toano, VA, passed away on August 18, 2026, at his home. Born on January 22, 1942, in Washington, D.C., he was the son of the late Everett Alphonsus Cheseldine, Sr. and the late Margaret Sarah Mullen. Everett was the loving husband of Frances Marshall Cheseldine, whom he married in James City County, VA, on May 11, 2018.
In addition to his wife, Everett leaves behind to cherish his memory his four children, Everett Cheseldine III (Sharon) of NC, and Joseph Cheseldine, Margaret Cheseldine, and Elizabeth Cheseldine, all of MD, his grandchildren, Everett Cheseldine IV, Eric Cheseldine, Alexandra Cheseldine, and Angela Cheseldine, his three step-daughters, Demetria Zimmerman (Corey) of Ocala, FL, Shameka Worley (Devron) of Waldorf, MD, and Keondra Bostick (Brandon) of Ocala, FL, his step-grandchildren, Corey Zimmerman, Jr., Amaria Horton, Christopher Worley, Brycen Bostick, and Brylon Bostick, his sisters-in-law, Kimbly Marshall and Debbie Marshall, both of Jennings, FL, his brothers-in-law, Dale Marshall of Jennings, FL, Willie Marshall (Tara) of Cheraw, SC, and Allen Marshall of Jennings, FL, his goddaughter, Kimariah Brinson, as well as his beloved dog, Rico. Everett was preceded in death by his parents Everett Alphonsus Cheseldine, Sr., Margaret Sarah (Mullen) Cheseldine and his sister, Margaret Gass.
Everett earned an associateโs degree and went on to become a registered nurse, a profession in which he had the opportunity to care for others. Outside of his work, Everett found happiness in the simple things that allowed him to express himself and enjoy life. He enjoyed reading, writing, sketching, and painting, and he had a deep appreciation for music. Most of all, Everett treasured the time he spent with his loved ones and the memories they created together. His kindness, creativity, love, and presence will remain in the hearts of those who knew him. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the honor of knowing him.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 3, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with prayers recited at 7:00 PM, in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, Leonardtown, MD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 4, 2026, at 11:00 AM, in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Bushwood, MD. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
