At 12:15 p.m. Jan. 3, a 21-year-old Hughesville woman was driving south on Crain Highway in White Plains when a silver Caprice behind her began flashing a spotlight.
She believed the driver was a police officer trying to stop her so she pulled to the shoulder of the road, reports the Charles County Sheriff’s Office.
The Caprice stopped behind her and a man exited it. The woman remained in her vehicle and when the man approached her at the driver’s side window demanding money, she hit the gas.
The woman fled to the Sheriff’s Office La Plata District Station to report the incident. The man is described as black, between 30 and 40 years old with a goatee and a dark complexion. He was wearing a black shirt, a black jacket, black boots and a black stocking cap.
The Caprice is an older model and the spotlight is on the driver’s side of the vehicle. There is a cover on the front tag.
