LEONARDTOWN, Md.ย – Images of lovingly tended graves stripped bare of tributes left by loved ones have caused outrage on social media. Little Nolan Scully’s grave (pictured below) is only one of many final resting places where landscaping and other grave decorations were removed.ย

Charles Memorial Gardens recently changed the rules at the cemetery. Families can no longer landscape graves and many types of decoration are now banned.

The cemetery says it’s necessary for maintenance and that families were notified. Families are telling a different story.
This week, in a special series, TheBayNet takes a closer look at these new rules and talks with heartbroken family members who say the cemetery’s new owner refuses to work with them to find a solution.ย
