Fatal Accident in Maryland

SEVERN, Md. — A 75-year-old Gambrills woman was killed Sunday afternoon, Oct. 5, 2025, following a head-on collision at the intersection of Telegraph Road and Route 100.

Emergency crews were called to the scene around 2:35 p.m. for reports of a serious crash involving two vehicles. Upon arrival, first responders found a 2016 Chevrolet Cruze and a 2006 Honda Civic heavily damaged in the middle of the intersection.

Police said a preliminary investigation showed the Chevrolet Cruze was traveling north on Telegraph Road when it collided head-on with the Honda Civic, which was exiting the westbound Route 100 ramp toward southbound Telegraph Road.

The driver of the Cruze, identified as Linda Catherine Mierzeski, 75, of Gambrills, was pronounced dead at the scene by Anne Arundel County Fire Department personnel. The driver of the Civic, a 49-year-old man from Odenton, was taken to the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore with non-life-threatening injuries and is reported to be in stable condition.

Anne Arundel County Police Department’s Crash Reconstruction Team documented the scene and collected evidence as part of their ongoing investigation. Police have not indicated whether speed, impairment, or other factors played a role in the crash.

Officials said the intersection remained partially closed for several hours Sunday afternoon while investigators worked to clear the scene.
