Port Deposit Md — On Jan. 21,2017 at approximately 8:00a, troopers from the North East Barrack were dispatched to a two vehicle head-on collision on Perrylawn Dr just south of Diamond Jim Rd Port Deposit, Cecil County, Maryland.
Preliminary investigation revealed that a green 1998 Jeep Cherokee was traveling northbound Perrylawn Dr south of Diamond Jim Rd when it crossed the center line and struck a black 2013 Jeep Wrangler which was traveling southbound, driven by Calvin Jay Thornton (31 years old from Conowingo, MD).
Cpl Hunt of the Maryland State Police Crash Team responded to the scene as well as a Cecil County Forensic Investigator, Tammy Hoag. The driver of the 1998 green Jeep Cherokee was pronounced deceased at the scene, notification was made to a family member. The driver of the 2013 black Jeep (Thornton) was transported to Christiana Hospital for non-life threatening injuries. No other parties were injured during this incident. Investigation is ongoing at this time.
