Firefighter Injured In Waldorf House Fire

UPDATE – 6/7/2024 – Waldorf House Fire Update: $300,000 In Damages, Firefighter Released After Heat Exhaustion

WALDORF, Md. – A structure fire broke out on Needlefish Court in the area of Night Sergeant Court on June 5, 2024, around 6:28 p.m.

Upon arrival, crews discovered a two-story home with smoke and fire through the roof.

Firefighters entered the home, locating the blaze on the second floor of the house. After strenuous efforts, the fire was brought under control within 40 minutes. Despite having the main fire under control, crews continued to tackle residual hot spots. SMECO was called to the scene to ensure the power was secured.

One firefighter sustained heat exhaustion while operating at the scene. The firefighter was transported to UM Charles Regional Medical Center for medical attention.

The Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal is currently investigating the incident.
