MILLERSVILLE, Md. — A former private school teacher and Baptist pastor has been arrested and charged with multiple counts of child sexual abuse following a months-long investigation that began when two parents independently reported disturbing allegations to police at an Anne Arundel County school.
William Auburn Jones, 58, of Gambrills, was taken into custody without incident Thursday, July 24, 2025, by members of the Anne Arundel County Police Fugitive Apprehension Team. Jones faces more than 20 charges, including felony sex abuse of a minor, third-degree sex offense, and multiple counts of second-degree assault.
The investigation began on May 1, when officers responded to Elvaton Christian Academy in Millersville after a parent reported that her child had been subjected to inappropriate sexual behavior by a former teacher. While police were still on scene, a second parent came forward with similar allegations involving the same individual.
Detectives from the Child and Vulnerable Adult Abuse Unit launched an inquiry that soon widened. According to investigators, Jones served as a teacher at Elvaton Christian Academy from 2020 until this year and is also the pastor of Jessup Baptist Church in Jessup. He is affiliated with Mission Fields International, a global missionary organization.
As detectives interviewed witnesses and gathered evidence, at least five victims were identified. Authorities allege the offenses occurred over a span of nearly five years, from 2020 through 2025. Charging documents detail incidents involving sexual contact, abuse, and assault, some involving children under the age of 14.
Anne Arundel County Police said they worked closely with the State’s Attorney’s Office to secure an arrest warrant, which was issued July 23 and served two days later. Jones is currently being held without bond and is scheduled for a bail review hearing on Monday, July 28, at the Circuit Court in Annapolis.
Police are urging anyone who may have additional information about Jones or the investigation to contact the county’s Child Abuse Unit at 410-222-4733. Anonymous tips may be submitted to 410-222-4700.
As the legal process moves forward, the scope of the case may expand. Authorities have not ruled out the possibility of more victims coming forward.
