Four Vehicle Pile-up Backs Up Traffic Near Gate 1

On March 17, shortly before 4 p.m., emergency crews responded to a motor vehicle accident with reported injuries along the 22100 Block of Three Notch Road in Lexington Park.

Crews arrived on the scene to discover an accident involving four vehicles in the intersection of Route 235 and Pegg Road near the entrance to Gate 1 of the Patuxent River Naval Air Station. Two patients were transported from the scene. No word on the extent of their injuries or their condition at this time.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.

Traffic was backed up in the area while rescue crews helped to clear the scene, causing a bit of a headache for afternoon commuters.
