GAMBRILLS, Md. — A reported stolen vehicle led to a dramatic series of events on November 13, 2024, as Anne Arundel County officers pursued suspects fleeing the scene of a motor vehicle collision near Crain Highway and Main Chapel Way. The incident ended with multiple arrests, including one individual with an outstanding warrant for fugitive charges.
The sequence began at approximately 4:30 p.m., when emergency personnel responded to the crash involving a stolen white Hyundai Sonata and a Toyota Corolla. Witnesses observed four individuals exiting the Sonata and fleeing toward a nearby shopping center. Officers quickly confirmed that the Hyundai had been stolen earlier that day, prompting a coordinated response.
Three suspects were apprehended shortly after the collision following a brief foot chase through the area. Among them was 25-year-old Dasia Janice Luck of Capitol Heights, Maryland, identified as the driver of the stolen Hyundai. Police confirmed Luck’s existing warrant out of Washington, D.C., for fugitive charges stemming from allegations of theft and unlawful vehicle taking earlier this year. She now faces charges in Anne Arundel County including motor vehicle theft, rogue and vagabond, and property destruction. Damage to the vehicle’s ignition and steering column further indicated theft.
Another suspect, a 28-year-old woman, was transported to a local hospital after reporting feeling unwell, while 27-year-old Michael Leon Brown, who has no fixed address, was also taken into custody.
Several hours later, at approximately 6:50 p.m., police received reports of suspicious activity in a parking lot on Waugh Chapel Way. Witnesses described a male and female tampering with the doors of parked vehicles, including a silver Hyundai Elantra. Officers arriving at the scene identified the male suspect as 33-year-old Alajahwaun Isaiah Grayton of Washington, D.C., the fourth individual connected to the earlier stolen vehicle incident. Grayton was taken into custody without incident and is now facing multiple charges related to vehicle theft and tampering. He also had an active warrant stemming from charges filed in July 2024, including motor vehicle theft and failure to appear in court.
Grayton’s companion, a 17-year-old female from Temple Hills, Maryland, was also arrested and is expected to face charges in connection with the attempted vehicle tampering.
The driver of the Toyota Corolla, a 38-year-old woman who has not been identified, sustained non-life-threatening injuries in the crash and was transported to an area hospital. Police have stated that charges are pending for all suspects involved in the events.
Authorities are continuing their investigation into the string of incidents, which highlight ongoing concerns about vehicle theft and reckless criminal activity in the area. Police urge community members to report any suspicious behavior promptly to assist in the prevention of similar incidents.
