CLEMENTS, Md. — A local fundraiser has been launched to assist a Clements couple who lost their home and belongings in a camper fire earlier this month.
The fire broke out around 5:05 p.m. on Feb. 6, 2026, in the 24600 block of Horse Shoe Road. Firefighters arrived to find a fifth-wheel camper heavily involved in flames, with the fire threatening a second nearby camper. Crews worked quickly to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading. No additional structures were reported damaged.
The couple was not home at the time of the fire. Their dog, Opie, was inside the camper but made it out safely after a neighbor intervened. No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
According to organizer Andrea Bair, the couple — William and Gail — lost all of their belongings in the fire and are now starting over. A GoFundMe page has been created to help cover basic needs including clothing, shoes, food, housing and bills while they work to regain stability.
As of this week, the fundraiser is still in its early stages and seeking community support.

Organizers say any assistance, large or small, could help the couple as they begin rebuilding after the loss.
