LOTHIAN, Md. — Miracle Temple Church in Lothian is helping local families get ready for the new school year.
On Saturday, Aug. 15, the church is hosting a Family Festival and Back to School Giveaway to coincide with its weekly community market. The church and market are located at 5501 Sands Road, Lothian.
The church is collaborating with community partners to create an “unforgettable day of hope, fun, and service.”
The event will have backpacks and school supplies, fresh meats and produce, pantry items, clothing and back-to-school haircuts. There will also be a moon bounce, face painting and games, food, ice cream and more, all for families to enjoy. Everything at the event is free.
Community partners involved, in addition to the food bank, are Bay Community Health, Wellpoint, the Anne Arundel County Police Department and more. Representatives will also be on-site to talk about school enrollment in local elementary schools and answer questions about the process.
“This is more than a festival — it’s our community coming together to make a difference for families across South County,” says a Facebook post from Miracle Temple Church. “Let’s show what happens when one community comes together with one mission.”
Miracle Temple Church launched the South County Community Market last month in partnership with the Anne Arundel County Food Bank. The food bank offers a new way for local families to access food and services and connect with the community.
The church hosts community events throughout the year and will continue each Saturday.
