At 5:52 a.m. today a fire broke out in the basement of Guidos Restaurant , a popular Italian eatery in Lusby on HG Truman Road.

Maryland Deputy State Fire Marshal John Tennyson reports that a passer-by spotted the fire. When firefighters arrived they found fire in two sides of the basement of the business.

DSFM Tennyson reports that within 20 minutes the fire was put under control. A total of 40 volunteer firefighters responded, from Solomonโ€™s Island, St. Leonard, Hollywood and Bay District volunteer fire companies.

The fire was ruled to be accidental by the Fire Marshalโ€™s Office. It started as the result of an electrical problem in the basement ceiling.

The total damage estimate by the Fire Marshal was $75,000. The business is owned by Alicia Massaro, and the building is owned by Allan Burke.
