LEXINGTON PARK, Md. — An 18-year-old from Lexington Park is facing multiple felony charges after allegedly threatening a minor with a handgun during a domestic argument, according to charging documents filed by the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office.
Javontay Kyree Nolan was arrested on June 16 after deputies say he fled from police and attempted to hide behind bushes near Peg Road at approximately 2:10 p.m. He was located and apprehended after a short foot pursuit behind the Lexington Park Senior Apartments. Nolan was positively identified by the complainant, described in official documents as his minor girlfriend.
According to the victim’s statement, the two were engaged in a verbal argument on Ronald Drive when Nolan allegedly lifted his sweatshirt, revealed a firearm, and stated, “I’m gonna kill you, bitch.” The victim fled and called 911. Law enforcement responded and were given a description of Nolan’s clothing: a black and purple sweatshirt, black sweatpants, and shoes with no laces.
Surveillance video from the Lexington Park Senior Apartments reportedly shows the altercation, including the victim striking Nolan in the face, Nolan lifting his sweatshirt, retrieving an object consistent with a handgun, manipulating the slide, and then walking toward the victim.
The victim later told investigators she had seen Nolan with the same firearm the previous day and described it as a G2 9mm handgun.
Nolan is prohibited from possessing a regulated firearm due to his age. He is charged with first-degree assault, second-degree assault, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony or violent crime, possession of a handgun on person, and possession of a firearm by a minor.
If convicted of first-degree assault alone, Nolan faces up to 25 years in prison. The firearm charge carries additional mandatory penalties.
He appeared before Judge Karen Christy Holt Chesser on June 17 for a bond review and was ordered held without bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 17 in St. Mary’s County District Court.
