SOUTHERN MARYLAND — Blueberries, blackberries, cucumbers, tomatoes, sweet corn galore. The region is absolutely overflowing with incredible, delicious produce this summer. That means residents have ample opportunity to head out to their favorite farmers markets for at least another couple of months.

Shopping at farmers markets offers a great way for people to meet others in the community and support local business owners and farmers. You also get to enjoy local, seasonal products — it’s sustainable, economical and fun.

Here’s a list of all the farmers markets in Calvert, Charles and St. Mary’s counties. If we missed any, let us know!

Calvert County Farmers Market

Prince Frederick Farmers Market

When: Tuesdays, 2:30–5:30 p.m. until Nov. 25, 2025
Where: CalvertHealth, 130 Hospital Road, Prince Frederick
Vendors: Beachin’ Bay Bakery, Cardinal Creek Plant Farm, Freeze Daddy MD, Juice Buzz, Pleasant Peninsula Apiary, Red Dog Produce Farm, Saleen’s Naturals, White Oak Point Farm and Windy Willow Farm (monthly)
Food trucks: Mad Byrd Confections, Cousins Maine Lobster, Heidi’s Eats and Sage’s Treats, and The Spot (all food trucks are on a rotating schedule)

Dunkirk Farmers Market

When: Thursdays, 2:30–5:30 p.m. until Aug. 28, 2025
Where: Dunkirk District Park, 10750 Southern Maryland Blvd., Dunkirk
Vendors: Angie Bakes Everything, The Fainted Goat Flower Farm, and Red Dog Produce Farm
Food truck: Heidi’s Eats and Sage’s Treats (all food trucks are on a rotating schedule)

North Beach Farmers Market

When: Saturdays, 8–11:30 a.m. until Oct. 25, 2025
Where: Senior Center Parking Lot, 9010 Chesapeake Ave., North Beach
Vendors: Not listed; includes local sellers of plants, farm vegetables, baked products, meats, cheeses, eggs and other fresh goods.

Calvert County also has numerous roadside stands that sell produce on their own schedules, like Chesapeake’s Bounty, Jake’s Produce & Linda’s Greenhouse, and Mulberry Lane Farm & Market.

Charles County Farmers Market

La Plata Farmers Market

When: Saturdays, 9 a.m.–2 p.m. until Nov. 29; Wednesdays, 9 a.m.–2 p.m. until Aug. 27
Where: 209 Washington Ave., La Plata
Vendors: Updated throughout the season, but the most recent market included Jillian’s Fare, RAW Juice & Wellness Lab, Small Great Things, Festive Bites, Britt’s Body Butters, MarDee’s Bakery, Twin Valley Distillers & Brewery, tastynutsbytammy, Timber Hill Produce, Zekiah Ridge Farm & Flowers, and more. The market recommends checking their blog for weekly vendor lists.

Waldorf Farmers Market

When: Saturdays, 10 a.m.–2 p.m. through November
Where: 2935 Crain Highway, Waldorf (next to Burnbox Pizza)
Vendors: Check online for updates

Charles County is also home to Hancock Family Farms, a family-owned grocery store that sources and sells local produce and meats. While they’re not technically a farmers market, they offer shoppers the opportunity to seek out the best in local foods from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, and Sundays, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

St. Mary’s County Farmers Market

The Barns at New Market

When: Outdoor vendors open Monday through Saturday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m.; indoor vendors open Saturdays, 9 a.m.–3 p.m. through October
Where: 29133 Thompson Corner Road, Mechanicsville
Vendors: Varies; check their Facebook to see updates through the season

California Farmers Market

When: Saturdays, 9 a.m.–1 p.m. through Nov. 22
Where: BAE Systems Parking Lot, 22810 Three Notch Road, California
Vendors: Updated throughout the season

Home Grown Farm Market

When: Saturdays, 9 a.m.–1 p.m. and Wednesdays, 9 a.m.–1 p.m. until Aug. 9
Where: 21078 Three Notch Road, Lexington Park
Vendors: Not listed, but the market says it is “a producer-only market that sells fresh produce, flowers, plants, meats, cheeses and baked goods while promoting sustainable agriculture.” They’re bound to have fantastic, farm-fresh products.

The Market at MedStar Health

When: Two dates left — Aug. 8 and Sept. 5, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Where: 25500 Point Lookout Road, Leonardtown
Vendors: Payne’s Produce, Real Food Studio, Horseshoe Farm, Olde Town Pub Wing Wagon

With this many options to choose from, Southern Maryland residents should have no problem finding produce, meats, cheeses and more. The biggest issue may actually be figuring out where to go first — and how you can possibly pick just one.
