โ€œI appreciated the opportunity to meet with members of the Prince Georgeโ€™s County Chamber of Commerce and Leidos this afternoon to discuss the impact of the opioid crisis on our community,โ€ said Congressman Hoyer. โ€œWorking with the business community, health care stakeholders, law enforcement, and other leaders to take steps to address the epidemic must remain a priority of Congress. Prince Georgeโ€™s County now has the fourth-highest total opioid-related deaths of any county in our state. The severe lack of access to quality substance abuse treatment is crippling our ability to tackle the crisis. We must take a comprehensive approach to expanding access to treatment.โ€

โ€œI am encouraged that companies like Leidos are taking steps to address the opioid epidemic in the private sector,โ€ continued Congressman Hoyer. โ€œWhen our businesses create an environment where employees can talk openly and ask for help, it goes a very long way. I was glad to discuss the different ways the Chamber and Leidos can work together in our community to promote a greater awareness and support addiction recovery.โ€
