Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (D-MD) will attend former State Senator Bernie Fowlerโs 21st Annual โWade Inโ on Sunday, June 8.
The Wade In was started by Fowler as an effort to emphasize the importance of working together to clean upย Maryland’sย waterways, particularly those that flow into the Chesapeake Bay. Each year, elected officials and local residents participate in the event, walkingย hand-in-hand into the waters of the Patuxent River to gauge the health and cleanliness of the waterway.
During the program, Rep. Hoyer will speak about recent Congressional action aimed at cleaning up the Bay, including $438 million in the federal Farm Bill to help farmers control erosion and reduce sediment and nutrient levels.
