PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. — A Huntingtown man has been charged after authorities say he stole more than $1,600 worth of fragrances, hair styling tools and other merchandise from Ulta Beauty in Prince Frederick during two separate incidents.
Angus Winston Mackall, 56, of Huntingtown, was charged by criminal summons issued May 14, 2026, in connection with thefts reported at Ulta Beauty, located at 845 North Solomons Island Road.
According to charging documents filed in District Court for Calvert County, deputies investigated a theft reported at the store involving a man who allegedly entered the business and took testers and products from the shelves.
Investigators said the business reported that on May 8, Mackall entered the store around 5:03 p.m., walked to the men’s fragrance aisle and began taking testers from the shelves. Charging documents state he allegedly sprayed the testers and placed them into his pockets.
Video from the May 8 incident reportedly showed Mackall walking around the fragrance aisle until he was alone, then pulling a product from the shelf and putting it into his front right pants pocket. The deputy also reported seeing Mackall take a tester from the shelf, spray it and place it into his front pants pocket.
The store provided a still photo from the incident, and investigators said Mackall was identified through a previous booking photograph from the sheriff’s office database.
Charging documents state the store also showed investigators video from a separate April 6 incident, where Mackall allegedly walked into the men’s fragrance aisle and placed products and testers into his pocket. Authorities said he was not located at the time of the report.
Items listed as stolen on May 8 included “I Want Choo Forever Eau De Parfum,” “Donna Born In Roma Purple Melancholia Eau De Parfum,” “I Want Choo Eau De Parfum,” “MYSLF Absolu” and “Uomo Born In Roma Purple Melancholia Eau De Toilette.” The total amount reported stolen that day was $791.
Items listed as stolen on April 6 included “Jimmy Choo I Want Choo Le Parfum,” “Givenchy Gentleman Society Extreme EDP,” a “Platinum+ Styler 1-inch Flat Iron” and a “Chronos Max 2-inch Wide Plate Styler.” The total amount reported stolen from that incident was $840.49.
The combined total for both incidents was listed as $1,631.49.
Charging documents state Mackall was incarcerated at the St. Mary’s County Detention Center on related charges at the time of the application and had two outstanding theft warrants through the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office.
Mackall was charged with two counts of theft from $100 to under $1,500 and one count of theft scheme from $1,500 to under $25,000.
Court records show a criminal summons was issued May 14. A preliminary inquiry is scheduled for June 29, 2026, in Calvert District Court.
Under Maryland law, theft scheme from $1,500 to under $25,000 carries up to five years in prison and/or a fine of up to $10,000. Each theft charge from $100 to under $1,500 carries up to six months in jail and/or a fine of up to $500.
