MECHANICSVILLE, Md. — A large Amish funeral is planned for Monday morning in St. Mary’s County following the recent drowning of an adult community member.
The service is scheduled from 10 a.m. to noon at the Hertzler Farm on Bowling Drive near Kentucky Avenue. At noon, the funeral procession will depart the farm and move along Trinity Church Road before continuing up Ryceville Road. Burial is set to take place on Thompson Corner Road.
Residents can expect a significant number of Amish buggies traveling the route during those hours. Even ahead of the service, more buggies than usual were visible on local roadways Sunday as relatives and community members gathered.
Motorists are urged to use caution and allow extra time while driving in the area on Monday.
