Joseph Sidney “Sid” Tippett passed away on May 28, 2026, in Lexington Park, Maryland. He was born on August 17, 1964, in Leonardtown, Maryland, to the late Joseph Elwood Tippett and Mary Helen (Turner) Tippett.

After graduating from high school, Sid began his career as a chef, eventually moving on to the Steamfitters Local 602, where he worked for many years. He was known for shucking oysters (especially Ducks Unlimited banquets and other functions), coaching Hughesville softball teams, riding his Harley and capturing picturesque moments that he was always happy to share with friends and family.

He was an avid duck and goose hunter, a passion he shared with his father, brothers, children and friends. Sid was also an apprentice of historical facts and was known for not mincing his words.

In addition to his parents, Sid was preceded in death by his brothers, Jeffrey Lloyd Tippett and Timothy Elwood Tippett.

He is survived by his son, Richard Elwood Tippett of Mt Pleasant, South Carolina; his daughters, Leigh Ann Tayman (James) of Mechanicsville, Maryland, and Sydney Marie Tippett of Washington, D.C.; as well as his grandchildren, Evelyn Elizabeth Tayman and Wyatt Nathanial Tayman, and other family members and friends who will cherish his memory.
