LEXINGTON PARK, Md. — A 26-year-old Lexington Park man, legally barred from possessing ammunition due to a prior conviction, has been charged after deputies reported discovering shotgun shells and rifle rounds in his bedroom during a police raid.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2025, when officers with the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office executed a search and seizure warrant at a residence in the 21900 block of Stoney Brook Court. Inside the home, deputies located the defendant, Christopher Kalil Gant, 26, of Lexington Park.
According to charging documents, a search of Gant’s basement bedroom, identified by his Maryland ID card and birth certificate, uncovered two 12-gauge shotgun rounds and four .223-caliber rifle rounds.
Gant is prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition due to a 2023 conviction that carried a sentence of more than two years, which under Maryland law makes him ineligible to legally possess regulated firearms or ammunition.
Gant is prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition due to a 2023 conviction for CDS Possession with Intent to Distribute Cannabis, which carried a sentence of more than two years. The charge for Illegal Possession of Ammunition is a misdemeanor that carries a maximum penalty of up to one year in prison and a fine of up to $1,000.
Court records show Gant was arrested and later released on his own recognizance following his initial appearance. A trial is scheduled in St. Mary’s County District Court for Sept. 29, 2025.
