LEXINGTON PARK, Md. – A violent altercation on November 5, 2024, outside a Liberty Street apartment complex left a local woman injured and the alleged assailant, 31-year-old Deangelo Juwan Holley, facing charges of second-degree assault.

The incident occurred at approximately 10:46 p.m., when a resident of the Liberty Street complex was approached by a man outside her apartment. The woman stated that the man, later identified as Holley, initiated unwanted advances, which she declined. When rebuffed, Holley reportedly became belligerent, shouted profanities, and escalated the situation by punching the woman in the face, causing her to fall to the ground. Witnesses at the scene corroborated her account, with visible injuries on her cheek consistent with her statements.

The woman had returned to her apartment earlier that evening after attending a friendโ€™s baptism ceremony. As she stood outside with a neighbor, the suspect, described as a Black male with long dreadlocks and wearing a Jiffy Lube shirt, approached aggressively. She noted that he appeared intoxicated and began asking invasive questions about her personal life. After being told to leave, the situation escalated to violence.

Eyewitnesses stated that Holley pushed the woman before delivering the punch that knocked her to the ground. One of her neighbors called the police, while another neighbor intervened in an attempt to de-escalate the situation. Holley then reportedly turned his aggression toward the intervening neighbor before fleeing the scene with another individual.

When officers arrived, the woman and witnesses pointed out an orange car circling the area, identifying it as the vehicle Holley had fled in. Officers stopped the car and questioned Holley, who initially claimed he had been jumped by women in the area. Despite his denials, police matched his description and noted that he bore a tattoo of the word “Pooh,” which witnesses identified as the nickname used by the attacker during the confrontation.

Holley was taken into custody at the scene. Police later confirmed his identity through Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration records. The victim described the attack as โ€œterrifyingโ€ and expressed fears for her safety, stating, โ€œWhat if he comes back?โ€

The victim remains concerned about her safety as she recovers from her injuries. Holley has been charged with second-degree assault, a crime that carries a maximum penalty of up to 10 years in prison and a $2,500 fine under Maryland law.

  1. He came back twice already and is already out of course he is going to come back these cops arenโ€™t here to protect think of them as a business. Get ur neighbors together make a plan create a watch and start taking care of these scumbags yourselves. Unfortunately that is one of the only answers around here. Unless the attacker was a kid in which case police would love to shoot

  2. Great job LEO’s. Charged with a violent crime and intoxicated. Hope he is in DOC waiting for his trial. Jaymi Sterling and your very capable staff, it’s your turn to protect the law-abiding citizens. Judge, it’s your job to ensure a fair trial. Fair to the accused & fair to the law-abiding citizens. If/when the accused is found guilty the sentence will reflect your commitment to protect the law-abiding citizens.

  3. Here’s what this victim, as most victims in St. Mary’s County, has to look forward to: released without bail, stet docket, plea deal, probation only…choose one or more. Time for the news to start naming which commissioners, judges, state’s attorneys, etc. are responsible for inflicting criminals on us.
