WASHINGTON, D.C. The Light the Way Foundation is offering an exciting opportunity for students ages 9 to 12 to explore the world of filmmaking through its 2025 Film Summer Camp. Full scholarships are now available for 20 students from the D.C., Maryland and Virginia regions to attend the program at no cost.

Charles County students are encouraged to apply for this unique experience. The camp will take place June 23-27 on the campus of Howard University, located at 2400 Sixth Street NW, Washington, D.C. 20059. Sessions will run daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and participants will receive breakfast and lunch each day, along with access to all necessary film equipment and materials.

Throughout the weeklong program, students will gain hands-on experience in camera operation, sound setup, scriptwriting, film editing and documentary production. The camp will end in a red carpet premiere where students’ completed documentaries will be showcased.

This opportunity is made possible by the Light the Way Foundation, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that funds enrichment programs for youth with limited resources. The foundation’s mission is to open doors to a brighter future by empowering children through educational and creative experiences that promote confidence, leadership and academic growth.

Applications for the 2025 Film Summer Camp scholarships are being accepted now through May 3. Families interested in applying can visit www.LightTheWayFoundation.org for more information and to apply.
