Huntingtown, MD – Local leaders from Calvert County gathered for the Live2Lead Leadership Workshop earlier this month. The event was structured around the John C. Maxwell event but brought in community members like Mark Frisco, Tim Murphy and Bernie Fowler to share their experiences with the attendees.

Robin Marshall–owner and operator of Marshall & Associates, Inc–organized the event that featured a local leader panel and Live2Lead rebroadcast. She felt compelled to do so after viewing the live stream of the event in October. “It just made such an impact on me,” explained Marshall who wanted to bring her experience back to the county. Nervous to approach sponsors for the event, Marshall credits God and her (Marshall’s) staff for helping line everything up in about a month’s time.

The event’s sponsors were receptive to the idea and ended up elevating aspects of the events. Farming 4 Hunger founder Bernie Fowler was featured on the local leader panel but also spoke about his organization and some of their recent endeavors in the area’s schools. “There’s a new initiative. We have been putting tower gardens in the elementary schools in Calvert, Charles, and St. Mary’s and just got approval to start the first 25 in Prince George’s County.” One of the individuals aided by Fowler’s program, Rico Nelson, briefly shared his experience with Farming 4 Hunger and how Fowler has helped him since moving to the other side of now helping those who are in the shoes he used to fill.

Pablo Troncoso, the owner of the Troncoso Growth Agency and member of the President’s Advisory Council for the John Maxwell Team, hosted the event, asking questions to the panel of leaders and addressing the crowd following each video clip. Troncoso is originally from Argentina but has lived in seven countries across four continents, becoming fluent in four different languages. He went to North East High School in Anne Arundel County before moving to Spain his senior year. He returned to Maryland, graduated from Towson University and has worked in a variety of different businesses.

Following the 2008 recession, Troncoso “lost a million-dollar business, friends, money and the biggest thing [his] self-worth.” While rebuilding his life, he became acquainted with John C. Maxwell after finding him online in 2015. He said that he knew the Maxwell Team were “his people” and that he wanted to be involved. Currently residing in Montgomery County, Pablo primarily works online and with smaller groups in person, but he couldn’t resist helping his friend, Robin Marshall, in bringing Live2Lead to Calvert. He ended our conversation by stating, “I’ll leave you with this, everyone is meant for so much more than what they’re doing, even if you think you’re at the top of your game. If you want to know what your purpose is here on Earth, you need to ask yourself questions and surround yourself with the right people.”

Marshall said that she plans on hosting another similar event next year.
