Patuxent River, MD – Lockheed Martin could cut up to about 100 positions at its aeronautics division in Patuxent River, as part of a nationwide reduction, the government contractor said Tuesday.

The firm’s aeronautics division said Tuesday it is offering a voluntary separation to about 9,000 workers nationwide, hoping to cut 1,000 mid-wage positions across the country. Headquartered in Bethesda, Lockheed Martin employs about 126,00 people worldwide. The buyouts were prompted by a business review aimed at keeping the firm competitive, spokesman Ken Ross said.
