LEONARDTOWN, Md. — Love was in the air at the St. Mary’s County Courthouse in February, as couples continued making wedding plans despite the lingering winter chill in Southern Maryland.

With Valentine’s Day highlighting the month, many pairs chose February to take the next formal step in their relationship by applying for a marriage license. Whether planning spring, summer, or later 2026 ceremonies, couples used the season to complete the legal preparations ahead of their big day.
