Man Held Without Bond After Disorderly Conduct, Trespassing At Callaway Shell Gas Station

CALLAWAY, Md. — A man was held without bond after Maryland State Police said he caused a disturbance at a Callaway gas station shortly after being released from a hospital.

Jerome Lamont Holt, 64, was charged with disorderly conduct, disturbing the peace and trespassing on private property following the June 8, 2026, incident.

A Maryland State Police trooper responded around 8:16 p.m. to the Shell station at 20943 Point Lookout Road in Callaway for a 911 hang-up call, according to charging documents.

Charging documents state the trooper arrived and found Holt at the gas station. The report states Holt had been released from a hospital earlier that morning after a court-ordered emergency petition.

According to charging documents, Holt had come into contact with law enforcement several times throughout the day for complaints involving harassment, trespassing and welfare checks.

The Shell station had a notice not to trespass order served on Holt earlier that evening by the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office, charging documents state. When asked about the order, Holt allegedly said he had been served and knew he was not supposed to be at the location.

Charging documents state Holt was verbally aggressive and that his behavior affected customers entering and leaving the business.

The trooper wrote that Holt was unable to have a coherent conversation about the incident and became easily agitated.

Court records show Holt was held without bond after an initial appearance on June 10 and remained held without bond after a June 11 bail review before Judge James Tanavage.

A competency hearing is set for June 24 in St. Mary’s County District Court. A trial is set for July 14 in St. Mary’s County District Court.
