The St. Maryโ€™s County Sheriffโ€™s Office responded to Harrison St. in Great Mills on November 11 and began an investigation into a hit-and-run motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian.ย  The 65-year-old male pedestrian of Great Mills, who was struck during the collision was transported to the Shock Trauma Center at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore with life-threatening injuries.

On November 21 the St. Maryโ€™s County Sheriffโ€™s Office was contacted by a representative of the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore and notified that the pedestrian struck during the collision was pronounced deceased on that day.

The investigation is still ongoing, and charges are pending for the operator of the striking vehicle who was identified on November 12, 2012.ย  The St. Maryโ€™s County Sheriffโ€™s Office Collision Reconstruction Team is consulting with the Office of the Stateโ€™s Attorney for St. Maryโ€™s County.

The St. Maryโ€™s County Sheriffโ€™s Office has not responded to requests by the Bay Net for the release of the deceased manโ€™s name.
