On August 10 at 11:50 p.m., officers responded to the 7200 block of Hawthorne Road in La Plata for the report of a domestic-related assault.
Investigation showed the suspect, James Herring, 38, of La Plata pointed a shotgun at a female acquaintance and threatened her. The victim fled and called police.
Officers located Herring in the roadway with a shotgun. He was arrested and charged with first-degree assault. Cpl. J. Freeman made the arrest.
