Brian Page Parran

Prince Frederick, MD – A Calvert County man has been indicted on charges stemming from an alleged sexual assault that occurred in late May, court documents stated.

The nine-count indictment handed down by a Calvert County grand jury June 15 accuses the suspect, Brian Page Parran, 30 of Prince Frederick of assaulting and sodomizing a woman May 24.

According to documents on file in District Court, during the late evening hours of May 24 Parran asked the woman to drive him home from his brother’s St. Leonard home to his father and stepmother’s home in Prince Frederick. Parran and the victim had previously been in a romantic relationship and together have a 2-year-old daughter.

The victim told police Parran was “intoxicated on drugs” when she picked him up and he “became paranoid” when the victim “received a text message from an unknown phone number.”

During the ensuing assault in the front area of the house, Parran allegedly attempted to strangle the woman, causing her to lose consciousness, the court documents indicated. Parran is alleged to have hit the victim in the face several times and attempted to smother her by placing his hand over her mouth.

The victim was then dragged to the rear of the home near a swimming pool. That’s when a lengthy and brutal sexual assault by the defendant is alleged to have occurred.

The victim was later taken to Calvert Memorial Hospital (CMH) and investigators noted numerous bruises and abrasions on her body. “A distinct finger patterned bruise was seen on her neck and also what appeared to be broken blood vessels,” stated Detective M. Mudd of the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office. “A yellow or brown bruise was seen around her neck. She had a bruise on her forehead, and cuts and scrapes on her sides and back. Mulch was in her clothes and hair. While at CMH it was determined that [the victim] was bleeding from the rectum and had blood in her urine. [She] appeared distraught and fearful. She stated that this abuse had been occurring for several years but she has been afraid to report Parran. She stated Parran had threatened to kill her in the past and during the assault.

Parran was arrested at his residence May 25 and police recovered evidence related to the attack. In addition to the sexual assault, Parran is alleged to have stolen the victim’s cell phone and destroyed the shirt she was wearing.

In the indictment, Parran is charged with two counts of first-degree sex offense, one count of first-degree assault, two counts of second-degree sex offense, one count of second-degree assault, false imprisonment, theft less than $1,000 and malicious destruction of property less than $100.

Parran’s bond was set by Judge E. Gregory Wells at $250,000. A docket schedule for the case has not been determined at this time.
