***The Maryland Department of Health has information that is not current with what St. Mary’s County Health Department officials are reporting. At this time, St. Mary’s County is showing 115 positive cases.***

LEXINGTON PARK, Md. โ€” As of Thursday morning at roughly 10 a.m., the Maryland Department of Health(MDH) is confirming a total of 10,784 cases of the novel coronavirus(COVID-19) across the state of Maryland, while there are going to be more results that are presumably still waiting to be confirmed.

This new total means there are 752 newly confirmed cases in the past 24 hours.

Of the confirmed cases, over 2,451 people have ever been hospitalized, and 220 of those were recorded in the past day.

736 previously infected people have been released from their isolation according to MDH, 129 of which have been recorded in the past day. This accounts for nearly a 20% increase in recoveries from Wednesday, a record day for the statistic.

47 people in the state have died from COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, bringing the stateโ€™s death toll unfortunately up to 349.

Negative test results also grew, with at least 2,328 negative confirmations in the past day, bring that total to 48,059.

At this time, there are at least 539 officially confirmed cases in the Southern Maryland region. Charles County saw their previously confirmed total of 310 cases rise to 327. In Calvert County, MDH has confirmed at least one more official cases overnight, bringing their total up to 103.

St. Maryโ€™s County now counts cases on a rolling basis, and records from the county show a total of 115 cases as of 11 a.m., which is an increase of six cases from Wednesday’s update.

A majority of the positive cases across the state are still found in Montgomery County and Prince George’s County. PG County has the most cases of any county in the state, with an overnight increase of at least 206 cases bringing the total to 2,722.

Since yesterday, Montgomery County saw an increase of at least 200 newly recorded cases, bringing their total to at least 2,133.

Anne Arundel County has also confirmed 51 new cases in the last 24 hours, bringing their official total to 896.

On April 15, the total number of confirmed cases by the Maryland Department of Health was at least 10,042. As of April 16, that recorded number is at least 10,801, showing over a 7.5% increase across the state in the past 24 hours. This is the first single digit increase in at least one week, following lowered increases across the state.
