The opioid epidemic is at an all-time high and the Maryland State Police is doing everything it can to combat this issue.ย Each barrack across the state played a pivotal role in the approach of enforcement, education, and treatment.ย Maryland State Police efforts in the drug take back initiative this past weekend yielded 2,669.15 pounds of unwanted prescription medications, which is a 533.88-pound increase since the last take back initiative this time last year. This is the most the Maryland State Police has collected during any single initiative. Maryland State Police would like to thank everyone who contributed to the fight against the opioid epidemic by discarding their unwanted prescription medication properly to ensure the medications stayed off the streets.
