MECHANICSVILLE, Md. โ€” Mechanicsville helicopter transport was requested Sunday morning for an 89-year-old woman suffering from a heart attack on Bishop Road. Maryland State Police Trooper 7 airlifted the STEMI patient after emergency responders determined she needed immediate transport to a specialized cardiac facility.

The medical emergency was reported to the BayNet on September 21, 2025 at 8:45 AM, According to dispatch, the patient was experiencing a STEMI, which stands for ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction, indicating a severe type of heart attack requiring immediate intervention.

Emergency Medical Services evaluated the female patient and determined that Mechanicsville helicopter transport was necessary due to the critical nature of her condition. Maryland State Police Trooper 7 was dispatched to provide rapid transport to an appropriate cardiac care facility. STEMI cases require urgent medical intervention to restore blood flow to blocked heart arteries.

STEMI heart attacks can occur when a major coronary artery becomes completely blocked, cutting off blood supply to a large portion of the heart muscle. This type of heart attack requires emergency procedures within 90 minutes of symptom onset to minimize heart damage.

The patient’s current condition has not been released by medical authorities.
